Love it!!

RealClearPolitics - Video - Maine Governor To NAACP: "Kiss My Butt"

Of course, they can't charge racism, cause the white guy has a black son.

Quote:
"They are a special interest. End of story...and I'm not going to be held hostage by special interests. And if they want, they can look at my family picture. My son happens to be black, so they can do whatever they'd like about it," Maine Governor Paul LePage (R) said.
Another outspoken republican governor.

I don't blame him for feeling that way, just not so sure he should have said that.

He made his point perfectly - as well as humiliating the NAACP at the same time. It's a win-win.

Though, I wonder what the governor is going to do if/when somebody from the NAACP shows up to videotape himself kissing the governor's butt.

"They are a special interest. End of story...and I'm not going to be held hostage by Non-Corporate special interests."

It seems the NAALCP only wanted the governor to talk to black inmates and when he said he'd talk to all inmates, well, that was just unacceptable.

Yes, we need more of this type, as long as they aren't too squishy.

I get his point entirely, but you can't really hold this up as proof you aren't racist. I'm sure he isn't personally, but the I've got a black/gay/hispanic/insert x friend excuse doesn't really wash.

While I think the NAACP should be fine with the Governor speaking to ALL prisoners, his lack of professionalism is nothing to be proud of.
I expect ALL of our elected officials to speak better than telling someone 'they can kiss my butt'.

I don't get his point. What's the context here?

Racism has nothing to do with it. He represents the state and should have used more dignified language.
