I get his point entirely, but you can't really hold this up as proof you aren't racist. I'm sure he isn't personally, but the I've got a black/gay/hispanic/insert x friend excuse doesn't really wash.
While I think the NAACP should be fine with the Governor speaking to ALL prisoners, his lack of professionalism is nothing to be proud of.
I expect ALL of our elected officials to speak better than telling someone 'they can kiss my butt'.
Racism has nothing to do with it. He represents the state and should have used more dignified language.
