Cat-22: Critics wary of new feline fine (http://www.nationalpost.com/news/canada/Critics+wary+feline+fine/4112216/story.html - broken link)

The cat may be crying, scratching, wailing to get outside. But open the door and prepare to pay a $100 fine and then some.

Make them do jury duty if found outside. That should fix the problem

People are more of a plague on society than cats.

Anyways, I wish they would enact some better spay/neuter programs to combat pet overpopulation.

I think that there may be an increase with rats and other rodent like pests if cats are removed. Plus, are these really threats or will they act upon it? I have a hard time believing any city, Canadian or otherwise has the manpower to enforce such pointless laws or ordinances.

Also birds. It's estimated that in the US pet cats kill between 1 and 2 billion birds each year.

Whenever I see a house cat I think of the show "Confessions: Animal Hoarding"

Like I said, people are the plague. They were the ones hoarding. That's a reflection on the person, not the cat.
