I find it amusing that the Confederate flag being flown above the Confederate war memorial is wrong in the eyes of the NAACP....
Me personally, i don't get the anger over the Confederate flag. Doesn't bother me one bit. I wouldn't be caught dead flying it, nor would i set foot in a Confederate War memorial. I'd just simply ignore it as if it doesn't exist.
Like my own Mississippi bred father used to tell me on the subject of the Rebel Flag..."they sure are some proud losers!" (while laughing)
Of course shielding George couldn't have been an attempt by the NAACP to avoid criticism about using Washington as a backdrop? You know, no good deed goes unpunished. Just a thought.
getting rid of ol' george was a 'good deed' in your opinion?

Funny thing is,most blacks here don't seem to give a crap either,it is those who live elsewhere....
One of the more interesting moments here in Beaufort was when the KKK came to town for a parade, this would have been 1987 or so.
They did their march up the street and were having a rally in the parking lot downtown.I lived at the marina nearby so went and stood and watched, along with a fairly good sized crowd(both black and white if it matters to anyone)
Well they give their speeches, and ask if anyone wants leaflets and the black lady next to me wondered aloud where they all planned to eat since almost every place in town had black cooks....she got a good laugh from the crowd.
After all, it was a White President that went to war to end slavery. It was hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of White people who died for that cause.
It was also to a very large extent White people voted for our first Black President, without whom he couldn't possibly have won.
I thought that the election of our first Black President was supposed to have a healing effect?

I'm not at all surprised, an organization such as the NAACP is known worldwide for racial discrimination and blatant bigotry.
They’re a “Catch 22” organization meaning if you call them on their actions they retort “RACIST”.
Any group that openly advocates the advancement of only one race (while squashing other races next to them) can’t possibly be anything less than racist.
1: a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
The South Carolina NAACP has responded to a request for comment and said the only reason the statue of Washington was covered up was for aesthetic purposes. “We had created a backdrop behind the speakers,” the group spokesman told The Blaze late Tuesday afternoon, noting that someone in his
organization forgot to post an NAACP placard on the backdrop. According to the group, the statue of Washington has been covered each year for the annual rally. The spokesman said he was “at a loss for words” as to why covering President Washington would offend anyone, claiming it was “non-sensical” for people to believe it may have been politically motivated.
As a person who has done his share of photography, that was exactly my first thought when I saw the set up for the event.
Just one little thing, why couldn't they simply have moved the stage to one side or the other?
