What do you guys think? A state dinner for a communist dictator and communist country? Who is going to be rolling in their graves? Is our country doomed? Have we lost our moral compass?

Here is what we dinned with:

- Communist Dictatorship
- Horrible human rights record
- Censorship at all levels
- Tiananmen Square
- Illegal detention of political dissidents
- Executions without due process
- Tibet Oppression
- Nobel Prize Denial

You can dislike it all you want, as long as you realize that China's "free pass" straddles both sides of the aisle.

They're our bank. They own us. They own more US Treasury securities than any other country in the world.

They are our biggest trading partner.

It's a business transaction, and if we were going to be moralistic, we'd have banned trading with them in the 70's. Instead, every US President since and including Nixon has courted them.

I am confused, too. Didn't I see Bush at the Olympics? Or was that another China?

Bush nixed a state dinner for Hu Jintao. Clinton, however, did it for Jiang Zemin. Given that Hu's about to step down as head honcho to make way for Xi Jinping (pictured below with his wife), I guess Obama wanted to make up for Bush's snub.

USA will always be an Economic superpower. China is an emerging market but they are nowhere close to the GDP of USA.
