with George W Bush and Dick Cheney sapping the life out of this country and nobody even attempting to have them impeached, I have a strong feeling that it is time to demote the United States to second world status.

Wrong forum, this should be under Politics. And I like Bush plus this country is great, always was great, and always will be great (unless we get Hillary, then it's down the tubes).

What is "second world"? There is no such word, except to refer to the Soviet Communist states back in those times. Also, all America basically is right now is a two party plutocracy. Bush sucks, but so does everyone else.

If you are going to hate on a particular politician, please do it based on facts. The downfall of the first world actually has to do with many more factors than poor leadership.

not first-world, and not third-world. i interpret it to mean a drop in world status and power, but with a good economy. but i guess wikipedia doesn't like that.

I understand what he is saying now, but its just that it refers to the Soviet Communist Bloc, and I thought that is what he meant. Point is, the U.S is still a first world nation, and will remain that way at least for the near future.

i think it would be good for us to be "second world." we could hopefully cut military spending, get off some terrorist hitlists, and tame our saber-rattling ego. we would just need to shore up our norther border with some anti-calvary forces.

What would really be better is not being a major part of world affairs, but still retaining our first world status and high quality of life. Australia and Canada come to mind...oh well.

I'm honestly shocked at the voting here! I don't particularly love George Bush but c'mon its almost 2008 and his 2 terms are up. Besides you can't hate the country jsut because of the President.

definitely. i just suspect that we'll have to get our butt kicked economically (thru military spending) or "militarily" (major terrorist attack) before we start to get such a message.
