Democrat urges Obama to target minority hardships (http://www.salon.com/wires/us/2011/01/21/D9KSSAQ83_us_minorities_economy/index.html - broken link)

Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., said the recession has devastated communities of color, leaving them with extraordinarily high unemployment rates. He said previous government recovery programs have left minorities behind and called on Obama to broadly incorporate a so-called "10-20-30" policy directing at least 10 percent of any recovery efforts into communities with 20 percent poverty rates for 30 years.

Hey Clyburn - you voted for this crap. What does this say about you? If you want to help, vote against bad legislation that devastates the people you represent. Right now, you are an accessory to the crime.

He's the president. He should not target just minority hardships. He should target the hardships of the entire country.

Note to blacks next time vote for someone based on the issues, not just because they have the same skin color, or they have a certain "party letter" behind their name.

I think the Democrats don't really care about the black community because, after all, no matter what the Democrats do, the black community by and large will always vote for the Democrat. The Republican Party already has their reliable voting base as well. That's why both parties try hard to do one thing only, coddle the Hispanic vote

Obama caused the recession that started in 2007?

Note to non-blacks or others who are obsessed with the black vote: worry about your own damn vote!

And from this you get 'Obama devastating black communities'?

I have no words.

Just maybe illegal immigration has also played a part in the devastation of communities of colour

Why?

I thought Nancy Pelosi said most dems voters are to stupid to know who to vote for?

With 95% of blacks voting for Obama and finding out that he has hurt them more then he has helped them I would think the black voter would get better educated in deciding who to vote for next time.

Just like the girl on the youtube video who thought Obama was going to hand her free money. The girl flat out is way to stupid to be voting and needs to learn before voting again.

Did she really think Obama sent her some kind of message that he was going to just hand her free money?

Clyburn is well respected in the black community and when he speaks of stuff like this all of a sudden people are pointing fingers.

Fact is Obama has hurt not just black communities but all communities.

He was handed 800 billion to fix the mess created by Nancy and Harry since they took office in 2007 and so far he has been an utter failure.

Why do many blacks believe that Obama would just jump in and start helping black communities. That is not what he was elected to do, he was elected to do a job for all Americans, not just one group.

In 2012 he will be back doing his community organizing job and maybe then he can start helping people who he destroyed during his lousy 4 years in the WH.

I guess we should look up if he voted to repeal the Glass-Stegall Act since that is one of the reasons banks were behaving unethically.
