If he remains far to the left of the US citizenry as he's been for decades and continues to rely very heavily on the radical lefties in his inner circle, he's guaranteed to lose in 2012.

Would it be futile to suggest that any movement to the center was the result of the evil motive that he still has a country to govern and that compromise might be the best course for doing so?

Yeah, I know sounds silly, wanting to govern effectively when you have two years left in a term...

All politicians eventually move to the center if they want to get anything done. All politicians run from the wings when they need to win a primary but then move to the center when it comes time to actually win an election. This whole Tea Party thing was a one election anomaly.

Yea, I tried to post that having to deal with the opposing party tends to be a good thing. If people are not acting completely contrary, everything gets looked at a bit more closely and moderation reigns. Reagan had to deal with Tip O'Neill, Clinton with Newt Gingrich, Bush II with...Trent Lott and Tom Delay..uh..yea..
