Another thing, imagine the irony of your tax dollars going to feed and house someone that murdered your brother, sister, mom, grandpa, daughter etc.. there is no way I want to waste a penny on trash like that.
a death penalty case is more expensive and will cost the tax payers even more. Google it....
actual amount of murders is decreasing. almost double the population from 1982 and almost half the amount of murders.. go figure.. Texas Crime Rates 1960 - 2005
I'm just pointing out that Texas's murder rate is above the national average. To me, that indicates that the state, in one way or another, is being soft on crime. You can't argue with the statistics.

only because we make it too difficult to execute them.. streamline the appeals process and make the road to the death chamber much shorter.. problem solved again..
The murder rate decrease was nationwide. Oregon also saw a decline in its murder rate over the 90's. And yet, no executions were carried out until 1997.
Also, why would you compare a huge state, with lots of rural areas and small communities, to a city whose boundaries contain a large volume of inner-city ghettos? You'd have to compare Texas to the entire state of Michigan.

I guess you are ok with executing innocent people, it HAS happened.
Wonder if you would feel the same way if a family member of yours were excecute and later found out to be innocent.
I am extremely in favor of the death penalty. Recent studies prove it is a deterrent. I believe the recent spike in violent crime in the U.S is mostly due to the decline of the DP over the past few years. Today's criminals have nothing to fear because they know the system is on their side.
Since Texas uses the death penalty the most all I have to say is God Bless Texas. I will be a huge GW Bush fan my entire life because such a large number of killers were executed while he was govenor of that great state.
i am not nuts about george bush but i am nuts about texas.
lets here it for texas law.

So now that death penalty turns out to be more expensive than you thought, you want to make it even more expensive by trying to streamline it without guarantee that it will be be shorter.
How about not wasting my tax dollars.
