A brutal interrogator and tool of the CIA is now Egypt's Vice President.

News Desk: Who Is Omar Suleiman? : The New Yorker

Egypt's new Vice President is Omar Suleiman - Egypt's intelligence chief and "the C.I.A.’s point man in Egypt for renditions—the covert program in which the C.I.A. snatched terror suspects from around the world and returned them to Egypt and elsewhere for interrogation, often under brutal circumstances".... A former U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, described Suleiman as "very bright, very realistic," adding that he was cognizant that there was a downside to "some of the negative things that the Egyptians engaged in, of torture and so on. But he was not squeamish, by the way."

How does this hurt the U.S.?

The VP of Egypt has zero effect on my life. None. Zip. Zilch.

How is this biting us exactly? If anything it's great news. Knowing we'll continue to have a friend in an unfriendly place is nice.

George Bush isn't the President of the United States, he hasn't been the President of the United States for over 2 years now. Some liberals claim he was NEVER elected as President of the United States. At some point you pansy liberals are going to have to take responsibility for what's going on, I know responsibility is a word not normally used by liberals but at least try for once. You wanted full control, you got full control, stand by what you've done, own your actions or shut up.

Oh but it may.
The VP of Egypt assisted the US in crimes against humanity to include torture.
I haven't read anything about sending our "enemies" to foreign soil to "question"/torture them lately.
I do read some English language papers from outside of the US.

You don't think that affects the US?

Most of what you say is correct and i agree.

The other stuff (that responsibility crap) i just ignore cuz it's pretty trite, unoriginal, and worn out.
