Well as the days drag on, the once unified "Go democracy" and Hooray for the people of Egypt has suddenly taken a turn. Now many on the right in America are not so sure about democracy in the Middle East and some have even back tracked and decided to back an oppressive dictator.

Now I know I have personally stated in no less than a half dozen threads that if democracy were to break out in the Middle East, it would end up being a nightmare to "US interest", which really means, "Israel and the US".

"We've shown you tonight that Hamas, Code Pink"—the feminist anti-war group—"and the Muslim Brotherhood are all linked together." With the future bleak, Beck called on his viewers to pray for "our way of life" and for Israel.
To think that the United States, after changing goal posts in Iraq several times, finally settled on "Bringing them democracy" as the reasoning for the US invasion, as it was our duty as the worlds police to bring democracy to the oppressed, we have now shifted gears.

Democracy is good, only when it benefits the United States, as the people of Taiwan so vividly remember when George Bush stood shoulder to shoulder with China's Hu while he crushed their fledgling democracy while holding up Iraq as the model of US interventionism.

Yea, the right wing looney-bin really got full yesterday. John Bolton said on Hannity's radio show that this uprising is even more proof that Israel needs to strike Iran RIGHT NOW cuz time is running out!

Huh?

LOL...hell, Obama himself doesn't know which way he's going!

He's just gotta let this thing play out just like every other world leader is doing.

I get what is being said on this thread, however I guess my position is and believe it should be the position of elected American politicians...........What ever is in Americas best interest, democracy or no. It really isn't difficult to justify in this current situation.

Many in the right didn't know which way to go and had to wait for Obama to make a move to avoid accidentally going the same way as him.

Oz, I am VERY curious as to how Obama and Clinton are going to move on this. I suspect the left will probably have a bit more unified position in support of the Egyptian people, but the State Department and the Executive, probably going to be walking that tight rope for a while.

I actually agree, which is why I say 50 years of American interventionism into the foreign affairs of the majority of the worlds nations should stop. I take a more Ron Paul position of minding our own porch and engaging diplomatically and economically and leave the nation building to fools.
