Actually both evolution and creationism are theories. Nice try though. I'm pretty certain that I acknowledged evolution in my previous post. Reading comprehension problems?
Actually, evolution is a set of facts explained by a scientific theory, just like gravity.
Creationism is an anti-intellectual political movement that relies on unfalsifiable hypotheses, and isn't science.
Science comprehension problems?
Slap yourself stupid. You call creationism anti-intellectual? How is it intellectual to insult others about their beliefs in God when you believe in gravity and you have never even see it? Your probably one of those people that believe in an invisible thing called love too. Or the air for that matter

The far left: promoting the teaching of evolution in schools while funding social programs that defy evolution, go figure.
The far left, what a ridiculous statement, hate to tell ya but most on the right also believe in science. The last statement is so ludicrous it is not even worth a reply.

sorry to hear that if you had to pick up all or part of the tab. my family runs on the opposite side of the spectrum. even to the point that we tried to get my dad's ashes put in a folger's can ( not out of disrespect, dad would have dug the lebowski joke ). california state law prohibited it unfortunetely.
Evolution is supported by a mountain of evidence and by every other earth science. Creationism is a myth supported by NO evidence. That said, that does not mean there is no Creator, so don't worry.

I am a big believer that science and religion need not be incompatible, but when hard science is presented as a "belief" with intelligent design as a plausible alternative, our science education system is failing. What I would like to know is how the minority who believe in intelligent design have this much influence over what occurs in the classroom.

Believing in science does not mean you cannot believe in God, whoever told you that is either confused or a liar.

How does natuaral selection exclude a first cause?
It does not exclude a first cause, rather it doesn't address it and it shouldn't.
The entire basis of modern science, arrived at during the Middle Ages, is built upon finding an explaination for natural events without appealing to the Almighty - that is philosophy's role.
If we do go with creationism then we are stuck with if the creator is good or evil or if we are an alien experiment.
