No he wouldn't... and I say this from experience, as I was raised to understand the meaning of tolerance & equality before I understood gay SEX. If you are raised in a household that doesn't discriminate, these issues are clear long before you've had the "sex talk." I knew that my mom had gay friends who weren't always treated nicely, and that made me sad - I didn't know what they did in bed or how they did it, I just knew some people hated them unfairly. I also wasn't aware of my parent's bedroom behavior, but still understood the difference between them & a gay couple. I'm sorry if you weren't given such an upbringing, as it has clearly led to a lifetime of intolerance & lack of understanding about the issue of equality.

Again, do some reading on these organizations... as they have little to do with sex & AIDS (especially in the case of the HRC), and mostly focus on equal rights for all people. Oh noes!!!! What a horrible thing to teach a child!!!

I have many gay friends. I think it is pathetic that people assume this young man was not pushed by his mommy and are lauding his "tolerance". lol

I think it's pathetic that you claim to have gay friends, and are still completely ignorant to the issues of equality and human rights... also pathetic that you think understanding gay rights = knowing about anal sex & AIDS. Just how close are you to these supposed friends? I'm also assuming none of them are lesbians, or you'd know they don't engage in anal sex (not all gay men do either) and have the lowest rates of STDs.

You are entitled to think me a liar if it makes you feel better. I am very close to my gay friends. I have loved and lost gay friends to HIV/AIDS. Have you? The premise of my post is that it is ludicrous to celebrate the "tolerance" of a seven year old. "Desperately grasping at straws" IMHO.

Ummm ... isn't Houston the biggest city in Texas? Didn't voters in Houston elect an openly Lesbian woman to be the mayor of that city?

BTW, I am happy to stay in my Philly world. (Philly is a very pro-LGBT city).

Austin is not as Gay as San Fransisco. I used to live there and the people there are sordidly conservative to say the least.

A handful of dark and dingy gay bars is not a gay scene.
