This is irrelevant to the conversation, since we're not talking about communist societies, nor is your point even true; it was not more of a means of social mobility in the USSR, which was highly nepotistic and corrupt, than in the modern capitalist United States, which is extremely concerned with credentialing and academic pedigree.

In the contemporary world, particularly in the advanced countries, the cheaper the education, assuming education has a legitimate effect on life chances, the freer the citizenry. When education is more expensive, people have fewer options in society. Period.

Could the English have defeated Germany by themselves? Maybe the Russians would have done very well with a one front war. I have studied that war that I lived through and think you are the one who needs to study up on it.

Its not only the education but the overall attitude of the society. You have more vacations, better and more secure health care coverage, better public transportation and as the above poster said, more social mobility. Oh yeah the cities are more visually pleasing than the concrete hellholes we have here.

Life is easier and more enjoyable.
Everything comes with a price though.

Germany would probably be a good fit for you. Nothing worthwhile was ever easy but you'll never discover that unless you are willing to put forth the effort. Only child by chance?

Evolve which direction?

And I think it is a willing price to pay. Which is higher cost of living and taxes.

We live in the greatest Country and nothing can compare. Again, you will realize this one day.
Looks like someone was born with a silver spoon in the mouth. Bet you wouldn't be singing this "we live in the greatest country in the world" tune if you were one of America's impoverished minorities, on government assistance, with no job, a GED and living in a city owned housing development.
