Just this letter in the mail for my small business last Friday.
This is crap. Essentially I already pay between $700-900 each year in unemployment taxes for my small business and now the State of Florida is demanding I pay "interest" on funds they borrowed from the Federal Government to pay for more unemployment benefits.
Why should I have to pay for interest? I pay what's required. It's not my fault they can't calculate the unemployment benefits they need to dish out. If they are out of money, they are out of money. But don't pass the interest payments to small business owners who pay on time and their fair share. Granted, this "extra interest payment" is only about another $40 but that's not the point. The point is that I should need to pay for this interest payment at all.
I am sure other state will issue the same type of interest payments to other small businesses owners also.
Many small businesses are always on the brink of bankruptcy, 700-900 is a huge deal for many of them. Corporations can eat these costs without missing a beat.
No - This is a case where the borrower wants someone else to pay the interest on the borrowed money. Most of us progressives and liberals would call that abuse of power or simple theft.
I expect to pay interest on, my loans, not yours.
BTW- the real and consistent enemy of small business is bigger business and the government they capture.
IMHO - No corporation should be allowed to purchase any other business in the same field. In other words no bank should ever be allowed to buy another bank. Open and free markets are always damaged by consolidation.
Why does he owe this. As I asked the other poster. perhaps you would like to pay the interest on my mortgage? Quit whing and pay my interest..............
LOL, exactly how does he get the benefit? This should be interesting....
It is not exactly news that this happens.
If he shouldn't pay the interest, who should?
The taxpayers?
Why?
