JazzyTallGuy has some very smart things to say!
American culture was supposedly "ruined" several times in history.
When the first wave of American Immigrants arrived they were met with signs that read "Irish Need Not Apply" - but today I know quite a few of their descendants who are into English only, and obsess about "illegals." hmmmm

My neighborhood is very safe, and I know that for a fact.
That might be *your* neighborhood, but overall, integration isn't happening.

Don't take my word for it, check out the 2009 census map for yourself. Zoom in to see how it's broken down by parts of the county.

Personally, and I might be un-PC for saying this, but I don't think self-segregated towns/cities/whatever are the worst thing in the world as long as all people in the same tax bracket have access to the same resources. Obv, a poorer person isn't going to be able buy a house and move into a neighborhood where the cost of housing is $500,000, but a person who earns that much should be able to move into that neighborhood regardless of the person's race or ethnicity. BUT, if a person chooses not to, because that person would rather live among others who share his or her race/ethnicity, I don't think that's the worst thing ever.

To say that integration is not happening is living in denial. Sure, it is taking its time, but it IS happening. My neighborhood couldn't have been as diverse as it is today even 2-3 decades ago.

Closed minded people will always have trouble associating with "others" and this applies to all race and ethnic groups, but as time goes on, the issue reduces.

lol how is it "living in denial" when you're going by the 2009 US Census data?

Quote:
It turns out that these ACS data, covering the period 2005 to 2009 and released last month, reveal that:

In a country that is only 12.1 percent African-American, 30 percent of African-Americans live in Census Block Groups that are 75 percent African-American or more.
75 percent of African-Americans in the country live in only 16 percent of the Census Block Groups in the United States.

50 percent of African-Americans live in Census Block Groups that have a combined African-American and Latino population of 66.85 percent or more (nationally, the latino population is approximately 15.8 percent, so the combined African-American and Latino population is just shy of only 28 percent).

Therefore, the human race is a failure.

It is not all Americans but many. And many of them live west of the Appalachians and east of the Sierra.

Middle Rural America supplies much of the ignorance in this nation because people there are not accustomed to dealing with problems outside of their pickup blowing a tire. Which in itself is not a problem but then they go to the polls and we see what comes of that.

I'm excited to see the future of America in failure.
Since 50% of blacks pay no income tax that will be a really solid tax base in the future.
Hispanics do slightly better with about 40% not paying income tax.

Overall about 30% of Americans don't pay income tax. I think if we can get this number up to 50%+ we can see some wonderful improvements! Maybe remake America to reflect a blend of Mexico and Africa-like conditions!!!

Go multiculturalism!!

Multiculturalism hasn't failed in Europe, and has generally succeeded in the United States. First of all, Europe is not a single country, it's a collection of countries, each with their own unique history and language and culture. Within those countries there have always been subcultures. That's multiculturalism.

Some European countries have implemented policies to deal with large incursions of immigrants, but the policies were always debated, and the problem has been that the policies have unclear goals, and their implementation causes resentment in their native populations. I think the policies have been deemed failures because they exacerbated immigration problems. The people immigrating to France or to England are not all from one country, they all come from different places, have different customs and different heritages, not just different from France or England, but different from one another. But the multiculturalism policies have united these groups, in much the same way that people in the United States force immigrants from Mexico, Latin America and South America to unite. By focusing on what immigrants have in common, and by trying to foster tolerance of those qualities, we isolate the immigrants together, and force them to reinforce what they have in common, be it religion or language or some other characteristic. You cannot isolate a group and expect them to integrate with the main population.
