The tea party movement should man up and just create an actual Tea Party.
Which version? The pro-war, anti-personal freedom, corporate crony version or the pro freedom for all version?
The Tea Party has been co-opted. Parties are not the answer but fracturing both parties into the authoritarian wing and freedom wing will help.

The only reason that seems necessary is because political donations buy benefits. Start voting for people who don't give benefits and we won't worry about how they are funded.
Plus we run up against the free speech issue, individuals should be able to support who they like.

They could support who they like. They can could still vote for their candidate, work for their candidate, or volunteer for their candidate.
Well yes, in the world sense of left/right politics. I'm talking about the American left, which is still mostly on the right compared to the rest of the world.

The only way to get rid of corporate influence is to get the money out of politics.
Citizens United just did the exact opposite. We will soon have two major parties completely controlled by corporations.
Centrism in and of itself is not a valid policy, nor are our political parties different enough to warrant a centist party. We need two additional parties, one left of the democrats and one right of the republicans.

The problem with that is some people, especially retired people can spend all day every day as a volunteer, me with my job and kids can't, so who will be receiving the benefits when it is time for politicians to vote? Those rich enough and those with free time who give the most TIME (which equals money). Do you really want a system setup that monitors who volunteers etc? What is a volunteer, posting on Facebook? The unintended consequences of trying to stifel speech are massive.

Money will never leave as long as money is given out.
Actually a much easier way is to change the corporate charter back to its original intention and take away limited liability or have corporations pay for their limits.
Plus if we stop looking at government as an ATM it would be much easier to see who is beholden to corporations as opposed to the people.
This goes out to anyone frustrated with the left-wing and the right-wing.
I was thinking that the moderates from both the Republican and Democratic parties, along with moderate independents, should form a new political party.
The Democrats should cut ties with the progressives. The Republicans should cut ties with the tea party.
There's a big large section of the country that is simply caught in the middle between a liberal base that is too far left and a conservative base that is too far right.
It would be a chance to actually solve problems in this country without worrying about the next primary fight with a more ideologically pure contender.
What do y'all think?
Socialism-light?
No thanks. That is pretty much where GOP RINOs are already.
