They may a have a place in certain enviornments, but it's not for our federal government to decide for us.

Agreed, so now I'll need two cars instead of one.

And when the batteries need to be replaced in my electric POS I'm out how much?

$9000.00

Report: Nissan Leaf battery pack costs only £6,000 ($9,000) or $375/kWh! — Autoblog Green

There is a sucker born every minute.

And now that the electric companies are going to tiered pricing one will see higher electric bills if they own one of these electric car money pits.... Witness California:

Don't buy, if you can't afford it.

In your opinion, sure. I disagree. People can and should decide what they want to drive, but government must play a role in every area that affects national interests. And the thirst for oil has played a huge role since WWII.

Are you young or just have a short memory?

Remember when the cost of a simple handheld calculator was higher than a basic laptop is now?

I'd be more worried about battery disposal than cost but I'm sure the cost will come down and disposal problems can be solved.

How is the government deciding?

How is a tax break given to an indivdual any different than the tax breaks given to business to buy new equipment?

Yup, am young, retired last year....

Lame comparison... the electric car is a toy for the stuck up eco-rich..

Battery disposal... I look for the nearest dumpster.

If I had a dollar for every time I read "I'm sure the cost will come down" and "can be solved" I'd be able to buy one of these toys......
