The wealth gap continues to widen between the wealthy and the poor in the United States. Proof positive that it does not matter if they call themselves Democrats or Republicans, they all have the same agenda, and it is not to serve the interests of the people.
It comes down to the government and corporate and banking elites...and everyone else. That is what happens in a neo-fascist society. As long as we keep electing the likes of media approved Republican and Democratic candidates, that is what we are going to GET! They all are BOUGHT and PAID for. You who elect them are seriously mistaken if you think that ANY media approved candidate will do ANYTHING like putting their constituents first; and following the Constitution! It is way past time fo finally WAKE UP!

Countries where a small elite hold all the money and live in luxury, while the majority of the population live in abject poverty do not work well. Look at the third world countries with their shanty towns next to the whitewalled mansions of the few wealthy.

Countries where everyone makes the same wage do not work well either. Look at North Korea and how the communist regimes in eastern europe performed.

Obviously the best performance is found somewhere between these extremes. The question is where we should start to worry.

More hateful rhetoric from the left.

And one that obviously has never been to West Virginia.

P.S. If West Virginia is backwards and poverty stricken look who they keep electing to office: Robert Byrd, Democrat; Jay Rockerfeller, Democrat; Joe Manchin, Democrat. Wood County is the only big conunty in WV that votes Republican. They are doing pretty well compared with the rest of the state.

Wow. Hilarious? So you revel in other humans poverty?
And especially since the majority is white? This is really a sad commentary.
I guess liberals only feel sorry for the poor, if what? They are black or a minority, or in another country?

Why are liberals the first want to raise taxes to "help the poor" but then come out with a slap in the face such as this? Great example of empathy of the liberals. The truth slips out.

You've been programmed perfectly but Corporate America to serve their needs. You post would have been perfectly appropriate until the first decade of the 21 century.

The game has changed. Being "educated and hardworking" in an of itself will no longer guarantee you the "American Dream" which is also pretty much dying away as we speak. The reality is you are in global competition with damn near every other worker in the world that goes the type of work you do. If you can't deliver significant value above what you are being paid at some point then chances are your job will be given to somebody that can.

Want an example? The average certified public accountant in the United States makes about $59,000 a year. The average certified public accountant in Sri Lanka makes about $5,900. The difference in income makes it a compelling value proposition for many firms to outsource work.

So just getting educated and working hard is not longer enough. The people who will win in society well be the ones with above average skills and talents. The winners will also be risk takers and entrepreneurs.

On the other hand the rewards for being successful have never been greater. We are in the in a “Winner Take All Society” were ordinary work has become commoditized and people with the capital, talent and risk taking skills are highly rewarded.

I find it fascinating that so many people in these forums seem to think that the working poor should be poor and, if it is inconvenient in some way to them, should be even poorer.

The polarization in the country is a disease. One side thinks the market can never fail. The other thinks the government can never fail. These are the people running the show and they are both wrong.

The gap between rich and poor is the very thing that separates a 1st world country from a third world country.
Having traveled to many third world countries, I can tell you that it is not the poverty which surprises most people, it is the wealth.
It is not uncommon to see mansions right next to people living in shacks.
What you do not see is anyone in the middle.
The question is, is that what you want for your country?
Do you really think you will be one of the ones living in the mansion?
By the way, many of the people living in the shacks are college educated and are still working for poverty level wages.

Default Wealth gap continues to widen

It should be obvious to all by now that America's wealthy have had it far too tough for far too long.

We little people owe them so much.
