It's not about "fairness". It's about what people are able to negotiate with their employers. Those who have "collective bargaining power" tend to end up with better benefits than those who don't. Rather than complaining that it's not fair for them to get better benefits than you, and therefore their benefits should be reduced, perhaps you should be complaining (or perhaps organizing) to get better benefits for yourself and your colleagues.

That said, I don't agree that everything a union tries to squeeze out of a corporation should be given over to them, and I do agree that it's not unreasonable to ask union members to contribute more towards their health insurance premiums (note I didn't say anything about "fairness", but "reasonableness").

But this strike isn't just about specific benefits, but about the governor attempting to squash the abilities of the unions to negotiate, essentially destroying the unions as a whole. I don't always support the issues some unions strike over (I have crossed picket lines to do my business when I believe they're in the wrong), but on this one, I'm behind them.

Impeach Obama now!

This bares repeating! I have always felt hussein obama was an enemy of America. He and the Dems/communists proved it.

Impeach Obama now!

You're misinformed. The union will still be able to negotiate on behalf of it's members.

Right now the union pays NOTHING for their own pensions benefits and 6% for their own HC - how is that fair?

How is it fair FORCING a teacher to become a union member (if they want to work), taking dues out of their paycheck that goes straight to the democrat party?

Would you be upset if the repugs protested against you and your children losing your military bennies?

Interesting opinion, but that's all it is: your opinion.

The employers of the unionized teachers ARE the taxpayers; and, this bill puts unionized teacher benefit increases up to a ballot vote to the taxpayers. That is equal negotiation instead of one sided negotiation.

Welcome to democracy neo-conservative style.

Didn't hear you complaining when the Tea Party were out protesting against a democratically elected government.

Hypocrites ... You bet

This is a state issue and bussing in astroturf from all over the place is the problem with this protest. hussein obama and paid protestors, that do not live in the state, should have kept out of it.

Not only that, even with Walker's suggested reforms, they will still be paying less than the average private sector worker.

My mother paid over $500 in union dues last year...only to support a political agenda she doesn't even agree with. How is that right?
