No one said taxes are an affront. EXCESSIVE taxes are an affront, for every liberal entitlement program under the sun. Quality education. Sure, to graduate high school. After that, you are on your own. You had the "little darlings" you pay for them. My taxes don't need to be raised, to pay for your (general statement) children.

Healthcare. Again, who promised you healthcare? Where does it say in the US Constitution you are entitled to healthcare, paid for, but the government; my tax dollar? You are born, you live, you have children, pay for it yourself. Don't tax me, because you smoke, drink, jump out of airplanes, and do all sorts of stupid things, which land you in a hospital. And for those who don't do these things, yes, its not my problem either. You get sick, its not my issue/problem. I have my own family to deal with.

Shelter and a full stomach? Not sure about this, since the United States is the fattest nation on earth. NO ONE in this country is going without eating. NO ONE. There is so much free food in this country, even the poorest of the poor are FAT. Go to any inner city and see the men/women living on the streets. They are PORK CHOPS. They are NOT starving.

Shelter? Who is going without shelter? Most persons who do not have a house, apartment, or are not in some other shelter program: DON'T WANT IT. They choose to live under the overpass on the freeway. However, you, not being them, cannot understand this and cannot grasp the concept. MANY people don't want your help and/your handouts. They would prefer to live on a cardboard box, then take money from you.

You want to be a liberal/socialist. Great. More power to YOU. Give up ALL of your money and give it away. YOU live under the overpass in box. Leave my money alone. I'll spend it on me. Enough of my money already goes to taxes for people to "have a full stomach." Fat a$$es they are.
I honestly don't know how to answer this other than say civilized societies don't subscribe to the "everyman for themselves" philosophy. As far as other people’s children not being your problem, would you see children die because their only crime is having the misfortune of being born to poor parents? Is a rich child with cancer more “entitled” to chemotherapy than a poor child? Should anyone die because they cannot afford medical care?

Clearly we are far apart on our view of what needs to happen to “fix” this country, although we probably agree that it is important to encourage individual self-reliance which was not a major objective in our welfare systems in the past. There are no easy solutions, but let’s just hope that somehow working together our political leaders find the right solutions. I just believe that lower taxes and less government regulation is only going to make things worse.

Has anyone noticed that many of the jobs that remain no longer provide company paid pensions or healthcare? Maybe unions wielded too much power once, but the solution wasn't to ship all our jobs to third world countries so corporations could reap higher profits any pay their exectives millions--even when they make very bad decisions.

Has anybody noticed that the banking and insurance industries have been bilking and defrauding American consumers? Has anyone noticed the dramatic climatic changes brought about by global warming? Have we forgotten the BP Gulf oil spill so soon? How can any politician, Democrat or Republican, believe that Corporate America needs less rather than more government regulation?

And when did the people of this country decide taxes are an affront rather than a responsibility? When did a quality education, healthcare, shelter and a full stomach become a privilege?

The chasm between the wealthy and the rest of America is widening. Cutting taxes may help corporate bottom lines and make the rich even richer, but it will not save America’s rapidly disappearing middle class. We are being led like lambs to the slaughter by the false promises of politicians whose allegiance is not to their country but to their Party and the special interests that fund their campaigns.

America is changing and not for the better. Unless someone turns this ship around, the American Dream will be only a memory.

Have you noticed a $14.3 trillion debt?
Have you noticed a proposed $1.6 trillion proposed deficit?
Have you noticed that we will be unable to fund medicare and social security?

Before 1935, people lived without the federal trough and did fine. The welfare state has weakened the work ethic of the nation and robbed the treasury.

Get used to it- you bankrupted the nation from all the wasteful spending and the party is over. Live within your means and take responsibility for yourself.

There is no accountability. They feel as if they deserve a raise every year of their lives and continued benefits for life.

It's evident that it's unsustainable.

Now, who are the sheep again?
Yet, not a peep from Republicans about the military getting automatic raises and promotions every year (at the expense of taxpayers) as well as benefits for themselves and their families for life. Teachers, firefighters and cops...all greedy, lazy parasites. But soldiers are our recession-proof heros!

sheep indeed.

People on the right are being told to hate liberals, hate Muslims, hate homosexuals, hate taxes, hate Democrats, hate Obama, hate unions, hate union workers (they're lazy and shiftless), hate the federal government, hate environmentalists and hate anything else that might stand in the way of corporations increasing their bottom line and the rich increasing their net worth.

While you folks on the right are so busy hating, I will say one more time, you are going like lambs to the slaughter. One of these days it will be you or your children who can’t find a decent job, can’t afford medical services and have to work until you drop because you can’t afford to retire. Won’t you be glad that all those nasty entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid are gone? A free market society is a good thing, but the greed spawned from unregulated capitalism will destroy this country. I’m not a socialistI’m a realist.
Democrat=Liberal=Communist. I can't tell you how many times that I have seen that on this forum. It is very sad. How utterly brainwashed these people have become. I used to be a moderate Republican. There is no place in the Republican party any longer for moderates. There does not seem to be a center anywhere. Corporate america has succeeded in turning us against ourselves. I don't see a happy ending to this strory.

1. Perhaps it was when the tax percentage rose from 0.9% to 21% of the GDP (not counting State levies).
2. Public funded education was always a privilege. Ditto for public funded shelter and food.

Inalienable rights are what your Creator endows you with, and government protects.

Privileges are that which government grants (or withdraws).

"No one should suffer because they lack {fill in the blank}" should be prefaced with "No one should be compelled to labor for the benefit of another, so that..." because slavery is not an acceptable solution to the ills of mankind.

It's a wee bit more complicated -
Thanks to usury, the Federal government went bankrupt in 1933. That's when it ceased redeeming its notes with lawful money.
It declared a state of emergency, and re-organized to prosecute the bankruptcy against the people.
It also implemented national socialism, via FICA/SocSec, and tricked people into "voluntary" surrender of their birthright.

We've been under "new management" for 77 years, and that's why the government ignores certain constitutional limitations with impunity.
(See: Art. 1, Sec. 8, Sec. 10 regarding lawful money).

The imminent collapse is a necessary part of the charade to officially end constitutional government without opposition of the serfs. In the aftermath, we will be offered the 'new socialist paradise' of the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of America - sans that pesky charter of negative liberties (saith BHO).

Of course, you've been lied to by the world's greatest propaganda ministry.
Try and find one utterance from the MSM that
(a) we've been under a state of emergency for 77 years,
(b) dollar bills are not dollars,
(c) the public debt can never be repaid,
(d) FICA/ SocSec is 100% voluntary - voluntary servitude, and
(e) the public debt cannot be questioned
References:
a) Emergency Powers Statutes, Senate Report SR 93-549, November 19, 1973
b) Title 12 USC Sec. 411, Coinage Act of 1792
c) 14 trillion computes to 700 billion ounces gold. World supply is only 5.3 billion ounces. Where's the gold lent to the US to substantiate the debt?
d) No law compels participation
e) see: sec.4, 14th amendment, USCON

The unions don't have enough votes alone to sway anything. The general public WILL absolutely remember what stunts the Dems are pulling by running from their states. They will be voted out.

Where are those same questions when the DEMS in Congress and the Senate voted themselves raises during the recession? Were you ok with that? The Military is underpaid as it is, the politicians are OVERPAID!

Well, obviously they have enough power to make state legislators walk out on their special interest behalf. I mean when was the last time legislators walked out for the benefit of the average taxpayer?

Unions are a money-laundering machine for the Democrat party.
