Columbia University, as of 2004, is the 8th largest higher education recipient of Federal funding clocking in at just over $300 million a year in research grants.
But, but, but....the lefties don't want people to know that! Wait for the discredit to your post, I am sure the attempt will be made soon.

And some of the research was from military funding. So. Still not the topic.
This was on the NY papers assessment and the OP's version , that of a couple of people at a open meeting represent a whole university. (did you bother listening to the audio i provided of the event in question).
A wounded Iraq war veteran found that out recently as he stood up – something he had to learn to do again after his wounds – and gave what the NY Post describes as an “impassioned challenge to fellow students on their perceptions of the military.” It occurred during the second of three meetings Columbia University has scheduled to talk about ROTC and the possibility of bringing it back on campus.
Some are also of the opinion that government shouldn’t be involved in subsidizing private colleges. So perhaps the a remedy can be found that is equitable for all. No ROTC on Columbia? Then what about no federal money for Columbia?
Discuss that.
It is truly sad and discusting.
Maybe someone should educate this idiot, from the article you linked, and tell him that the military does not start wars, politicians do.
"Universities should not be involved in military activities," Sociology Professor Emeritus Herbert Gans told The Post. "Columbia should come out against spending $300 billion a year on unnecessary wars."

Reaping the benefits of their protected freedoms, and pissing all over those who live and die to provide that freedom.
Columbia doesn't need the money. No Ivy needs federal funds. So why should i care about how they feel about ROTC? If they don't want it, then as a private institution they shouldn't have it. I don't see what's so hard about this.
