U.S. President Barack Obama's administration signaled that the Libyan government might face consequences if it did not take heed of warnings to rein in its security forces and respect its citizens' right to protest. US presses Libya to halt crackdown, threatens action | Reuters
We should stay out of it. No matter what we do in that dismal part of the world it's never enough, always wrong and just seems to backfire on us.
I say we either just do business with the so-called" winner (if there is such a thing over there) or if they don't want to, we tell them to leave us alone.
What about Bahrein. Yemen. Jordan. Saudi Arabia.... ? Obama just woke up?
Why did he veto the UN resolution that declared Israeli settlements illegal and all other nations agreed?
Obama has no 'street cred' in Middle East anymore. He can blubber all he wants.
I've already lost count of how many countries are revolting for freedom and dignity from dictators. Dictators that we (the US) support.
My job involves working with an international clientele, and I know that Obama has tons of "street cred" in third world countries all over the world. He's a symbol of hope and inspiration for oppressed people everywhere.
..............Human Rights Watch said at least 223 people have been killed in five days of violence. .......
Once again Obama shows up late after testing the wind and calling in his advisors for coaching. Or, maybe he was too busy stirring the pot pushing the astroturf protests for his union buddies and donors.
The Obama administration needs to shut up.
Loose talk and threats of violence towards another sovereign nation makes Americans less safe.
We should be proud that there are brave people in Libya and elsewhere who are willing to die fighting for freedom and democracy in their countries, and we should be shouting our support from the rooftops.
I see nothing wrong with the president saying something like that. I'm really fed up with seeing our government kissing the butts of tyrants around the world. Economic sanctions would be fine too. Now, sending in our military is a different matter, so I'd hope he doesn't do something stupid like that...
