It seems the world has been unusually calm recently. The stock markets are unusually calm and moving a little higher. The complacency seems strange.

It feels like the eye of a hurricane.

What is the next big event that is about to happen in the world?

More like America is just clueless as to what is going on. You've heard the term ignorance is bliss?

Welll... The russkies have drilled into an antartic lake thats been untouched for millions of years. Watch out for The Thing or The Blob.
There's been some UFO sightings lately.
Some volcanoes are rumbling.
European banks are still collapsing and demanding bailouts. Ditto foreign governments.

It's good, steady leadership from the White House. We are heading in the right direction. After Obama is re-elected he will go after a lot of the corporate and uber-rich loop holes and close that budget gap.

I wouldn't call it calm.

More like dazed and confused with drool running down it's face. Just sitting there, wasting away.

I'm seeing and hearing things I find "most unsettling." However, I'm old so that kinda fits in with the whole "the world is going to hell in a handbasket crap" one expects of the old. So, I'm of two minds on this.

I can say we're not happy out here in the flyover states; immigration issues, economic issues, serious disatisfaction with both political parties. I, personally, see a growing cultural divide and not just liberal/conservative white thing tho that exists. Many if not most of our erstwhile immigrants (mexican) "seem" to have left their collective hearts back in the home country. I don't blame them. We cannot offer them a coherent cultural/national narrative to compete with their own. I'm just unsure how far this nation can drift apart without something very serious occuring.
