Instead they are becoming more aggressive at giving everyone stupid petty tickets over nothing. These tickets are in excess of hundreds of dollars and really hurt the people that aren't doing well right now. People that are struggling right now can't afford to pay a 500 dollar ticket. Does anyone else have a problem with these punk cops doing this to us?

No, police are not supposed to protect you (see for example jurisprudence like Warren v. District of Columbia) but to uphold the law. And the law is (increasingly) designed to milk you as a cow rather than to protect you from this.

What is the difference between government and the mafia? One is organized!

You thought wrong. Theyre there to catch criminals & enforce the law. If you break a traffic law their job is to give you a ticket. If you dont like that law your job is to work towards changing it.

Our struggling is do to politicians & their current tax & spend attitude giving us high taxes with no end in sight. You are barking up the wrong tree if you are blaming cops for doing their job.

As human beings and citizens of this nation. You would have figured out that COPS would be more interested in fighting criminals rather than upholding stupid laws that NOT EVEN THEM follow.

The way government managers see us:

We are batteries. Their job is to extract power for their machinery.

Cops have become a lot like salespeople. Their promotions and bonuses are derived from how much revenue they generate for the company.

It isn't like this everywhere of course.

If you break a stupid law, you're technically still a criminal. It's their job to enforce laws, even stupid ones.

As well, tickets are a huge source of revenue for cities. Speeding tickets alone account for something like 2.5 billion dollars worth of revenue each year in the US. So, basically, you have the choice of your city cutting services, police issuing more tickets, or the city raising taxes.

If you can't pay the fine, don't do the crime.

Ok so when they break the stupid law, they are not criminal? How hypocritical and stupid it is. That one can do it because they wear a badge, but others can't because they are plebeians. I thought we had already moved forward in thinking. I guess not. In Europe they don't have these sort of problems.

Yeah because they don't get enough from property taxes.

I'd have to agree with OP. I pulled off on a Pennsylvania ramp to walk my dog. A state police pulled up and said I can't park there, then gave me a $100 parking ticket. Then, I drove my duel-wheel pickup truck on a NY parkway. When pulled over, I was told that no commercial vehicles were allowed. Mine is a private truck to pull my camper. The cop said NY considers all duel-wheel vehicles commercial and wrote me a $310 ticket. I feel like I'm in a foreign country and don't understand the laws anymore, no matter how legal I try to drive. My friend just got a warning (in WV) for having a bumper hitch on his pickup without a trailer. The cop said for him to remove it or get ticketed. How are we supposed to keep up with these ridiculous laws?

Basically with driving comes the requirement to obey the laws . Poeple want the laws enfocred by and large because of the numbers that are killed on the highway. Laws are enacted to control such behavour and most accidents can be traced to a violation .
