I quoted to you scripture, you asked me about how "people" may or may not apply it to their lives. I can't answer that question, I can only speak for myself.
I don't really understand the point of this thread. Osteen is a pastor of a Christian church. According to Biblical teaching, homosexuality is a sin. Nothing really newsworthy here IMO.
Like prevous poster stated he is entitled to his views.
If Osteen said that homosexuality is a sin according to the bible, then he and you are wrong. The bible calls homosexual conduct sin. A person being attracted to another person of the same sex is not sinful per se.
Do you have an inside track to what god thinks? No, you get that opinion from the bible, a book written by men thousands of years ago....I would say that it is more than a little out of date.
It's high time people learned to form their own opinions, not get them out of some ancient book.

The only reason homosexuality is still up for discussion and still reviled around the world is because it is abnormal and perverse. If it was normal and healthy it would be no more a topic then the natural and normal relationship of a man and a woman.
Why so insensitive to youth murdering themselves? Not very pro-life.
Instead of a helpline as a last line of defense before tragedy, why not address the problem at the core? It's not the actions of a few - it's the attitudes of multitudes who believe that who these youth are as sexual beings is inferior.
That is extraordinarily difficult on fragile, young minds. Same reason young blacks have higher suicide rates. There's a lack of self-worth from a society that still falsely believes them to be inferior.
You're either part of the problem or part of the solution. So far, all I'm seeing is problem.

No - bullying is making people feel inferior because of who they are. When it's a bigotry institutionalized in government and society, and people are killing themselves because of it, it's not "good".
Either you're pro-life or you're not. You can't support a society's oppression of homosexuals and then wash your hands of the results when children are hanging themselves.
So, end your hypocrisy. If you're going to say it's "truth" because of one line in the Bible, then please state for the reord that you embrace and endorse slavery, which has many more lines of support in the Bible and was used by social conservatives to justify its existence in the 19th century.
Would you feel the same way about pedophiles committing suicide because society condemns pedophilia and makes pdeophiles feel inferior?

A great solution would be for those who don't believe in a particular life style to not practice it. And then, if that life style's practioners don't affect the non-believers, the second part of the solution would be for the non-believers to mind their own business.
One religion's book compiled from texts written over many centuries and voted upon by a powerful government of men for which would be included or not, rewritten many times over the ensuing centuries, with both purposeful edits and language misinterpretations does not qualify as the final word on anything.

At no time in the history of this nation has homosexuality been so accepted, even celebrated. But I suspect (but have no empirical evidence to back this up) that the incidence of teen suicides among homosexuals is higher than it's ever been. Given the weakening hold of Christian belief on the issue of homosexuality on public opinion one would expect the reverse would be true. It is unlikely, therefore, that teens are killing themselves because of Christian beliefs. More likely it is the lifestyle itself tht is killing them.
