I just saw on TV that if you are on foodstamps or medicade you can get a free cel phone with 250 minutes a month FREE. Why would the gov. do this? I can understand foodstamps but why a phone, a phone is a luxery not something you have to have. I can feel my blood boiling so I am not going to say anything else right now.
No, moron, a phone is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Ever hear of something called an emergency? And how are people expected to get jobs and not need this service if employers cannot reach them? You stupid Republicans never look at the big picture and never stop to think before you speak about something. And yes, I AM on welfare and food stamps because YOUR Bush Administration destroyed this economy and I lost my $40k a year job three years ago, had a severe nervous breakdown because of it and I am still looking for a job. And I don't feel the slightest bit bad about this "government handout" because you wanna know why? I paid taxes for the past 27 years of my working life so what I am getting now - food stamps, cash assistance, free cellphone minutes - is what I put into the system in the first place.
All of you people who are so pissed off about "government charity" are really just jealous and mad at yourselves you aren't smart enough to reap what you've sewn all these years. If I'm going to pay taxes to a government that couldn't care less if I live or die, you better damn well believe I'm gonna get them back in some way.

A cell phone is often the only way that a poor or homeless person can get a job. How do you leave a phone number for an employer when you live in your car, or at a shelter? And how many minutes do they get? It's probably minimal, i'd bet.
