If aspects of shar'ia conflict with American law I see no problem outlawing those elements of shar'ia. As it is, shar'ia frequently conflicts with modern life in civilized nations.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
If some one follows the laws of Sharia, where they do not interfere with US civil and criminal law, it would be against the first amendment of the constitution to criminalize practicing religious observance. If people follow dietary, interest paying, dressing laws...why would people think this is a good thing to make an offense?
Amazing how "defenders" of the constitution and bill of rights are so ready to take away rights form others.
Its getting ridiculous in TN... you shouldn't be charged with a crime for following a religious/social law... if that law conflicts with existing US laws, then I can see a reason for being charged for a crime... its racism and hypocrisy at its finest...
I find it humorously ironic that those who ardently defend Sharia are the very same people the muslims would have killed under Sharia.
Obviously they think "honor killings" of family members, and the deaths of all homosexuals and blasphemers represent American values. Does it get any more clueless than that?

I find that ironic as well. They probably think that sharia is a living and breathing document.
