I hate what they are doing, but I agree that the Constitution has to be upheld, even when it hurts.

The Constitution was made to serve us, not the other way around.

The SCOTUS has ruled in favor 8 to 1 to support freedom of all speech, even the despicable kind that comes from Westboro Baptist. I actually agree with the Supreme Court but not the church if you follow my logic. Do you agree with the Court's decision?
But I thought Christians were under intense persecution here in the good ol' US of A? At least that's what the Christians on CD tell me anyway.

Most American Christians don't know what real persecution is. There are Christians in India, Bhutan, Afghanistan, etc. being KILLED for their faith.

I think the decision is probably correct, even though these people are garbage. I would suggest to them that, since the law is not going to protect people at funerals, they are protesting at their own risk because that's an emotional time to be disrespectful to families.

Nope. They're being targeted for two reasons.
1- Political: Rise of right wing fundamentalism domestically, and political landscape on global scale.
2- Nosiness. As in missionary efforts. If you think Christian fundamentalists in America have it right to be anti-Sharia, and Islam in general, then you should be able to see Islamic and Hindu fundamentalists take on missionaries intent on conversion.

couldn't agree more. I find them despicable and I think they're a smear to the name of Christ.

As long as westboro is following the local rules of assembly permits and not trespassing on private property, and not violating noise ordinances, then they have every right to spew their hate filled nonsense.

There is a special place in hell for some of these people.
