Wisconsin Senate Minority Leader Jon Erpenbach admitted to Greta Van Susteren last night that his fellow caucus members met secretly with the Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader today behind his back.
He did not even know about the meeting until the media contacted him!

Details emerged last night on the secret GOP-fleebagger meeting yesterday morning.
Madison.com reported:
Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald met quietly Monday with one of the 14 Senate Democrats to discuss ways to bring the boycotting senators back from Illinois.
The Democrats fled Feb. 17 to block a controversial bill that sparked two weeks of protests at the Capitol.
Fitzgerald, R-Juneau, met with Sen. Tim Cullen, D-Janesville, at a McDonald’s in Kenosha on Monday morning, Cullen said. He said he presented a list of eight or nine proposed changes to Gov. Scott Walker’s budget repair bill, and Fitzgerald came back with a counter offer.
“It was something,” Cullen said, “but it wasn’t enough.”
For his part, Fitzgerald said he believes some of the “Wisconsin 14″ are growing weary of the protest. Democrats left Wisconsin to deny Republicans the required 20-member quorum to vote on fiscal bills.
“There’s six, seven, eight, nine of them that are starting to say, ‘Listen, we’re starting to look like we’re out of touch with what’s going on in Madison, and it’s time to get back,’ “ he said. “I think some of them feel like they’re boxed in and they can’t come back to the Capitol right now.”

Isn't that in violation of open meeting laws?

I don't know what their laws are specifically in Wisconsin. I kind of doubt this would fall under them regardless.

I don't see where they're ready to cave. What they're trying to do is speak w/senate majority leader to get some damn compromises going on. Unfortunately, the republicans forgot that compromise is a key component of the political process.

There should be no compromise. The Republicans have a mandate from the WI voters: no tax increases.

Collective bargaining requires tax increases to pay for the additional union demands. There is no evidence whatsoever that the WI taxpayers have agreed to increase the kind or amount of taxes they pay in order to foot the bill for the unions' demands.

So then compromise without tax increases.

Easy Peasy.

Or tax decreases. Or they can be tax neutral.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

I'm sorry but yes, they can compromise on the collective bargaining. He knows it & so does everyone else. For whatever reason, he's not budging. I suspect he wants to be the darling of the right. Too bad he has now pi**ed off a whole lotta people that serving a second term is pretty much inconceivable. I suggest maybe you take a look at the budget he proposed yesterday. A LOT of people are not happy, a LOT.

Evidently the Dems forgot where they work. They also have seem to have forgotten that they have to show up to negotiate anything.

Those whole lot of people you speak about are the minority.
