I never said or insinuated just $1 bills. When I said "a few hundred bucks" I didn't mean literally a few hundred $1 bills, I was referring to all denominations.

I have to take that back - the OP appears to have suggested just such a thing. Let me rephrase: Nobody who's given the matter any serious thought is suggesting that.

agreed. other countries have done away with their lower demonimation bills and and use coins instead.

It was so nice to be in Japan and have 100 yen and 500 yen coins

how many people carry 50 cent pieces with them????????????????????? They don't b.c change is easy to lose and if you drop a penny/nickel/dime, or even a quarter , it's not the end of the world. But losing 50 cent and dollar/two dollar coins would suck, plus people WEIGH to much as it is, no reason to have fatty's walking around with an extra couple pounds jingling as they go..
