We have this headline:
US Breaks record with $222.5 billion February deficit

And this:
Republicans propose $61 billion in annual spending cuts

or to put this graphically:

"...but it's a start..."
it isn't a start. it is nothing. it is purely symbolic.

the republicans aren't proposing meaningful deficit reduction. period.

Anytime anyone proposes anything meaningful as far as deficit reduction the idiots on the left cry about cutting SS, social programs that people "need" and starving children.

to be fair, the dems wanted to raise revenue and that would have helped more than this. but it doesn't matter and it isn't the point. to stand tooth-and-nail behind a group giving you a mere symbol, a bread crumb. it's stupid.

No.. they dont want less reduction.. they want more increases..

OP.. the reason why the cuts are so small, is because Democrats still control 2 branches out of 3 branches of government. If the GOP wanted more it would never pass..

The President is Democrat and doesn't like cuts. They can't propose ambitious cuts, and the unemployment rate must be lower before dramatic cuts, they're not crazy

Pray tell...how ?
They passed the extension to the Bush cuts and added a payroll tax cut which REDUCED revenue even more.

The $66 billion was the republican wish list, that is the worst part. If it were a compromise solution, that would be different.
