The refuticans gotta make up their minds, do they want to spend (bush) or cut (obama) i guess that depends on who is in office
Gotta love partisan politics. No wonder nothing gets done. Your guy did it= bad. My guy does the excat same thing= no problem
It is not my guy or your guy my issue, My probelm as a veteran was sending over 5000 fellow military members to die to make the rich richer. Oh yeah and for PRETENDING to be in the military

Shame on you hapless Pubs for showing your arses like this. Benefit to Dems.

these posts are pure unadulterated RUBBISH!!! first, the deficit went DOWN in the first 6 years of the bush administration, it was only after the democrats took over congress that the deficits climbed again.

second, had the democrats actually done their jobs in april 2010, there would be NO discussion of shutting down the government, as their would have been a budget through the end of fiscal 2010. instead they ignored their CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY to produce a budget, and we have to deal with the crapola they are putting out now.

third, even the $60 billion in cuts the republicans want are rubbish as they do not go far enough. remember that just the interest on our debt is $400 billion per year, so $60 billion is a drop in the bucket.

fourth, in 1995 when the government shut down, it was clinton that shut the government down by not signing the budget that was properly passed by congress. at that time the democrats were able to spin it so that the republicans took the blame for the shut down. this time however the american people are not going to by the democrat spin because they know that it is now the democrats that are holding things up, and not wanting to cut the budget like the american people want.

i hope the government does shut down. but that only means that no new social security applications will be processed, the visitor centers in the national parks will be closed, the national monuments will be closed, but social security checks will still go out, the military, law enforcement, the courts, the prisons, etc will still all be up and running. you will probably have to wait for passport processing though.

Default Obama/Boehner/shutdown

Is Obama gusty enough to go through with a shutdown or will he give in at the last minute?

If he did, could he manipulate the Senate to vote for whatever needed to be voted for in order to get the budget passed?

Or will Boehner give in at the last minute?

As someone in a military community, I can tell you this. 90% of the people in the area who are effected by losing military business are blaming the Republicans if it goes down.

The news, newspapers, and almost everyone you talk to here is looking at Republicans as the blame for all of this talk. If they want to hold onto the Florida panhandle in the next election, they'd better do something PDQ.

The military won't be shutting down. Just non-essential government offices, like farm aid.

Who's been in the majority for how many years now and people want to blame the GOP? Where is the budget from last year? Oh that's right, the Dems didnt pass one because they knew their type of budget wouldve pissed off voters and they were worried about losing more seats this past November.

And now, with still having a Senate majority, people want to blame the GOP?
