There can never be a fair income tax as long as corporations and non-profits exist. Unfortunately Corporations are necessary for growth. Non-profits also serve a function in theory but if any entities should be put under the microscope, it's them.

Property tax is an abomination that forces the successful to subsidize failure.

Sales Tax is somewhat more tolerable but like income tax can always be circumvented.

How about NO TAX for Americans and American companies operating exclusively in the US and instead we tax the hell out of everyone else selling us their trinkets.

this is a poorly made poll ... without multiple choice selections it doesn't make sense.

The "Fair Tax" is just another scheme for the federal government to increase our tax burden. They will tell you it is a sales/consumption tax, but it is IN ADDITION TO the income tax not instead of the income tax. As long as the 16th Amendment is in place the federal government will always be able to tax our income.

Repeal it. Then we'll talk.

I think the fairest tax is a sales tax on goods to the end user, we exclude things like food clothing and energy. Eliminate all income taxes and any goods that are to be resold will not be taxed. The important thing here is the end consumer gets to see what they are paying in tax instead of most of it being hidden in the cost of the product.

I used to have the same thoughts but no tax on land could cause a lot of problems. It would most certainly drive the cost up for it and would allow people to just let it stagnate. If you own a piece of property now if the taxes are a lot you're more likely to do something with it or sell it to someone that will.

The "fair tax" is a scam cooked up by the rich and upper middle class to increase the tax burden of the middle class and poor.

If you make $30k a year, and it costs you $30k to live, then you pay taxes on 100% of your income.

If you make 3 million a year, and it only costs you $600,000 to live. You are only paying taxes on 20% of your income.

Uhh, no. F*** Neil Boortz.

The proposed "Fair Tax" is a regressive tax that targets the middle and working classes. No wonder the Repugnanticans are in love with it.

You're already doing this and don't even know it. When you buy a product the taxes the business has paid is included in the cost. Only the very last consumer of the goods pays the tax on the product. You don't ever see this, that 6% sales tax you might pay is chump change compared to what it really is.

It's too late. If an item costs a $1 due to extra taxes, and the taxes are removed, guess what?

The company will still charge you a friggen dollar. Stop dreaming.
