Japan's economy is the 3rd largest in the world only to have become devastated by the 5th largest earthquake in recorded history. Will this stop this "recovery" we've been experiencing?

They plan to rebuild - so there will be a large need for materials, construction services, etc.

So there is an immediate negative impact while they sort things out and plan their rebuilding phase. But there will be a positive impact when the rebuilding process starts.

I wonder if the Stimulus will now activate those millions of "shovel-ready jobs" now that there is a need for it? Highly unlikely. The Japanese are probably going to rebuild for themselves without outside labor

That depends on how fast they want to rebuild. The faster they want to rebuild, the more manpower it will take.

I was more thinking from primarily an investment standpoint.

I don't know how soon they are going to want to rebuilt, we have friends who are working out there, and some going to school. The japanese are a very proud people, will they get outside help, i hope they are not that proud to accept outside help. We have no idea how bad the devastation is, my friend, says it is so horiffic, like something out of a hollywood movie, but real and they are experiencing it. The building will be going on for sometime, because when devasation as this hapens, you never know for sure the extent of the damage, till clean up begins, and they will be finding more dead bodies, so very very sad.
