The growth of the Hispanic population in the United States is outstripping pre-census estimates, the Pew Hispanic Center report released Tuesday says.
"The number of Hispanics counted in the 2010 Census has been larger than expected in most states for which the Census Bureau has released detailed population totals so far," the report says.
They marched on Washington to reclaim civil rights.
They complained of voter intimidation at the polls.
They called for ethnic studies programs to promote racial pride.
They are, some say, the new face of racial oppression in this nation -- and their faces are white.
"We went from being a privileged group to all of a sudden becoming whites, the new victims,'' says Charles Gallagher, a sociologist at La Salle University in Pennsylvania who researches white racial attitudes and was baffled to find that whites see themselves as a minority.
Hell no..whites aren't oppressed. And as long as they remain in charge, they never will be. I wouldn't worry about anything if i were them. As a matter of fact, they DON'T worry about it because they know better even if they don't admit they do.
It's racist to even speak about a white person being racially oppressed around here, racial oppression is something exclusively reserved for blacks in this country and the CD black patrol will attack you for even talking about white people not being treated wrongly based on race.
Part of the problem is that in this country everyone is so tribal "race based". My tribe gets the least, your tribe has the most so you should be giving more. Hispanics are growing in population so that's another tribe to add to the mix.
I think it's counterproductive to use "race" or "ethnicity" in order to gauge a population and it should be based on education levels and socio-economics and not "race".
If "race" was eliminated and stats used pure socio-economics it would level the playing field across the board between and among people of different "ethnic" backgrounds.
Also proficiency in English is a standard that should be included under education level. There are enough poorly educated "blacks" and "whites" along with non-native English speakers who as a result of their poor language skills are not considered for quality jobs and are unmotivated to attain anything more than what they have.
With competition from new immigrants and illegals for jobs native born Americans are in competition with them for jobs and this adds to the "ethnic" divide and favoritism going toward cheaper labor from illegals and new immigrants.
Sigh. Let's say it again. All together: "HISPANIC IS NOT A RACE." Hispanics do not all look the same, act the same, or act in a monolithic voice because.... THEY ARE NOT THE SAME.
Some Hispanics are white. Are they part of the current white oppressor class? Some are black... are they still minorities if "persons of hispanic decent" become the majority? All questions that are meaningless because.... HISPANIC IS NOT A RACE.

That is all.
Non-Hispanic White, Non-Hispanic Black are going to be the minority.
A white Hispanic can claim minority status because of the "hispanic" tag.
That's what the issue is.
