This is part of the new Anti-Bullying campaign. Wonder how teachers are going to accomplish this policing? Maybe have to hire some additional spies, er I mean staff? America sure is changing, isn't it... (Post replies quickly, before its a crime.)

Big Brother? Feds Order Schools to Monitor Kids Facebook Posts & Lunchtime Chatter | The Blaze

"The Daily Caller is reporting that Department of Education (DOE) officials “are threatening school principals with lawsuits if they fail to monitor and curb students’ lunchtime chat and evening Facebook time for expressing ideas and words that are deemed by Washington special-interest groups to be harassment of some students.”

Here is an article from Psychology Today telling why this AntiBullying Program will be ineffective and even harmful to all our children and our public schools.

A Rational Alternative to the National School Anti-Bullying Policy | Psychology Today

"the Federal government has thrown its big guns into the vicious attack against schools, too. The highest power in the land is now holding schools responsible for doing what the world's most revered bullying experts are incapable of accomplishing-an environment in which no one ever says anything that another person doesn't like-and if the remark is about someone's religion or sexual orientation, the school is in really deep trouble. It will face lawyers and possibly lose funding for the school, hurting the education of the entire student body. After you read this article, go to the link at the bottom of the page to read the text of the Federal government's instructions to schools about bullying, and consider whether you would like to be in charge of a school under those regulations."

Here is the link mentioned above to the Federal Government's instructions to schools regarding this new anti-bullying mandate. It was mailed out from the U.S. Dept of Education Office of Civil Rights,to all schools across the country in October 2010.

Interesting to contemplate how much money will be wasted on this???

Will I be required to tell the school if, in fact, my child has a Facebook page?

What if I say it's none of your business?

I can see a school monitoring use of computers owned by the school or district, as they are responsible for them. But what are they going to do about what students do at home?

I guess being a parent is now part of the teacher's job requirement... I love liberal governments...

Well intentioned, but I don't think it will work. But I don't care about the kids' right to privacy. You use public forum to harass others, then you have it coming to you

Hey, here's a concept: How about you sue the INCOMPETENT PARENTS of these little brats? Schools have enough on their plate already while the kids are at school.

Here's an example of one of the anti-bullying curriculums that will become mandatory if one incident of bullying is detected at a school. These curriculums are designed to help improve the "environment" at the schools; because if you read the regulations, punishing the perpetrator, alone, is not enough. A whole program will need to be implemented to teach the whole school district about the type of bullying involved to help prevent further incidents by changing the way the students think.

The real agenda behind schools' anti-bullying curriculum | StarTribune.com (http://www.startribune.com/local/18846129.html - broken link)

"Welcoming Schools" has three sections. The first, on "family diversity," drums into kids the idea that "traditional families" are outdated. To emphasize this point, kids in grades 3-5 "act out" being members of nontraditional families, including same-gender-headed families."

Other school districts, who have already been targeted for this anti-bullying program by the ACLU, are mandating students district wide, view videos that help them realize that homosexuality, bisexuality, & transgender are all just normal behaviors. The video called "StraightLaced:How Gender's Got Us All Tied Up" is widely used. Most traditional parents will probably not like their child having to watch it. But there is no parent notification. No opt out choice and a mandatory make up lesson for any child who misses it.

But that's only addressing one type of bullying (because the student might be gay) ..or is that the agenda ?

Two worthless sources, the Blaze and Psychology Today. The better to line your bird cage with.
