What's really ticking me off in these threads right now is people acting like this Quanell X dude speaks for all blacks and that he represents what we all think. That his ridiculous claims are tied to black folks' legitimate complaints and concerns.

Sigh. I'm really sorry, then. A shy person does have a harder time making inroads socially. I don't know how old you are. If you are young, then that would explain why you are more tender. When it comes right down to it, most of us find that we only have a few good friends in this life. Try not to let the others get to you. And if you ARE young (forgive me if I got that wrong) then rest assured, you will get tougher as you get older and people's attitudes will not bother you as much. You will realize that everyone is fighting their own internal battle and they aren't necessarily reacting to you as much as you may think they are.

unfortunately, you'll see that alot...this forum seems to be a hot bed of the "us vs. them" mentality...

This thread should be titled "Why does America hate Chalie Brown."

Did I say that? I don't think anyone said that. What I said is that there is a large group of people who DO think Quanell X speaks for them, and that's horrible. Don't you think so? It's horrible the way they congregated to hear him speak and cheered as he attacked a little girl who was the victim of a heinous crime.

Unless you specify what are black folks' legitimate complaints and concerns, I can't address that part of your post. It's not unusual for many things to get all mixed up together when they shouldn't.

You know, the OP is a perfect example of how so many young Black men go astray. I'm a Black woman and so can't relate to what it feels like to be in this skin as a man, but I can say that there is definitely a population that see young black men as thugs.

I don't think there's anything wrong with freedom of expression; just because you dress like Lil' Wayne doesn't mean you are criminal-minded. But when you grow up and develop the opinion that you are not liked just because of who you are, it can foster an "Eff y'all too" attitude. Leading to young black men who just don't give a f#*k. Since they believe society doesn't accept them, they turn to their peers and sometimes go down a dangerous path...all in the name of finding acceptance. If your friends don't care about school, you develop the same trait to fit it. If they curse/smoke weed/fight/etc, you do the same to fit in. And because you believe White people have shunned you, you develop a disdain for them and perpetrate crimes against them to "get back at them" for their perceived rejection. It's really a sad cycle...I wish more people could understand why so many young Black men form such rebellious attitudes.

We're never thought of us being victims, but rather the perpetrators. The fact of the matter is, brothers are being robbed and killed everyday, and many young black men were sexually abused as kids themselves. But no one cares about that. If a black man goes missing, you won't hear about it in the news. But when a little white girl goes missing...well, you know the rest. The media treats us like heartless, soulless dogs with no feelings.

No one cares about us.
The OP does make some valid points and his opinion/point of view should be respected.

great post choc. people without the ability to look outside their own lives.

kind of ironic that a group of 5, 6, black sixteen and seventeen year old hanging on a corner just being kids can cause some great concern, when the same group of white kids, not so much.

kids scary listening to that music and dressing like that.

as a general rule, if you want to understand what young men (asian, black, white, etc.) are doing, and why, there's a shortcut --

just look at who young women (asian, black, white, etc.) are sleeping with, and that will more than likely lead you to the answer (although it may not be an answer you are comfortable with).

Sorry, I'm confused by your post. Are you saying that women prefer bad boys and, as a result, young men play this role to get laid? If so, I'm not buying it...this goes much deeper than wanting to get some a$$.
