And no fair blaming Bush, the "new normal" is Obama's achievement.

Bush is only to blame the initial price jump with the attack on Iraq, but he nor the current president have absolutely no control over international oil prices. the speculators are the main culprit for the high gas prices! Don't listen to newt, he is a lair!

Phew.. i thought you meant it went up another 4 dollars a gallon.

Wait till Iran gets bombed.

$8 gas will be a luxury.

That's why O'bama wants Israel to wait till after Nov.

What you're paying for is 40 years of head-in-sand energy policy. If you really think things are going to change for the better under a Republican president, you're seriously deluded. If anything it's their policies that encourage more dependence on oil, less development of energy alternatives, and generally encourages the American consumer to waste more energy, exacerbating things for themselves in the first place.

Conservatives -- and Americans in general, I think, -- are like whiny 8-year-old children who cry whenever mommy won't praise them enough or buy them the toys and candy that they want at the supermarket. Tell them that they need to show some self-discipline and they get angry and stamp their feet and cross their arms. We're living in a society of toddlers, with toddler-like reasoning capabilities. It's really no wonder that this country's going down the toilet like a filthy turd.

tthe price of oil is set globally not nationally. The economy added 227,000 jobs last month.

$4.19 per gallon is still really cheap. Quit your whining.

I sense you don't understand how the price of gas is determined, and by whom. Are you advocating a Socialist state where the government dictates prices?

As gasoline prices rise, we’re seeing an old game being played. It could be called “pin the blame for the gas prices,” and it belies a failure by some of us to understand basic economics. It’s not a new game, by any means, so before we get to the current economics lesson, here’s a bit of history.
Energy economics: Pin the blame game not new, still not right - Longview News-Journal: Editorials

All these threads show is a basic failure to understand economics.

I like the ending sentence that pretty well sums it up.

Partisan politics and blame shifting is not an energy policy. We need honest and reality-based discussion to keep our nation growing.
