Lee Stranahan: Shame: Ignoring Death Threats to Wisconsin Politicians Is Media Bias

Quote:
Why isn't the mainstream media talking about the death threats against Republican politicians in Wisconsin?

Just before writing this article, I did a Google search and it's stunning to find out that the right wing media really isn't exaggerating -- proven death threats against politicians are being ignored by the supposedly honest media. If you've never agreed with a single thing that Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly et al have said about anything, you can't in any good conscience say that they don't have a point here. Death threats are wrong and if a story like Wisconsin is national news for days, then so are death threats.
Yes, exactly what we've been saying. If these death threats had been against a democrat politician, there is NO DOUBT they would have been covered by all 3 broadcast networks, by the print media, by the cable channels (other than Fox), by NPR, PBS in a continuous 10 minute loop.

Concrete, real example of MSM bias.

I heard it on the local public radio (not sure if it was a NPR broadcast) the same day I saw it on patch news site. (I read many of the Great Lakesarea patch news sites for stories of interest). It was not covered on any other local news outlet including local Fox.

But one would be amazed at how many threats politicians (of all parties) get on a day to day basis, and most are not reported on. With the advent of electronic communication, they've grown 1000 fold.(and if you consider some of the commentators on various forums and blogs threats, 1 million fold)
But, most are not even heard of, except, when the politician wants the coverage, as most would rather not, as one local politician told me, "feed the beast".

Because there is a double standard, between the way the media portrays events that are directed towards Democrats versus Repusblicians. We know that, we have alwyas known that, and it still exists. The media don't believe in playing with a full deck.

Nonsense. But we do happen to hear about them when it's a democrat getting the threats.

Ooooooh, a blogger says so. And he's a liberal, so it must be true.

I'll remember that next time you challenge anyone on the left here, who uses a liberal blogger as a cite to support their argument.
