You will go to any lengths to avoid facing the truth.

When people are in desperate situations they will do desperate things.

Why No Looting In Japan? Ctd - The Daily Dish | By Andrew Sullivan
Quote:
Here (http://www.tokyo-np.co.jp/article/ibaraki/20110317/CK2011031702000077.html - broken link) is a report about people fraudulently posing as Tokyo Electric Power employees and visiting homes to trick people into paying for "repairs". Here (http://www.chunichi.co.jp/article/toyama/20110317/CK2011031702000149.html - broken link) is more general article about the phenomenon of people doing things like using the earthquake to go to people's homes to scam, saying it was extremely common in the past after natural disasters.
The links takes you to a Japanese website..but it's nothing that google translation cannot fix.

I thnik if we watch the coberage we see the difference in looting. There are always robberies and theft even i noraml times i every country. Is this a attempt to justify what has been seen here/ if so it has failed miserably especailly the race card.

Today it was snowing in Northern Japan and temperatures are below freezing. I can guarantee you if somebody in one of those towns has not received any aid and they need a coat or a pair of shoes they will go to great lengths to get them.

The reality that some of these people in Japan are exactly the same situation as those in New Orleans were in during Hurricane Katrina. Alone, without any help and possibly exposed to the elements. When those situations occur survival trumps everything else.

Yup, it's not looting, it's trying to survive.

These people who criticize as they sit in their comfy warm safe homes , stuffed to their gills with food....they will deny it but if they were in the same circumstances they would do the SAME THING!

I don't see the looters - but really when a local economy collapses because of disaster and maybe grocery stores have no way to collect cash or process credit and debit cards, and the food is going to go bad anyhow, I think it's okay for people to take the food rather than let it rot, or let children or elderly or themselves starve to death.
