OK wow this thread took a hard right turn into Crazy Town.

Scanning the responses - I saw: stoned, naked, Nazi, Rachel Maddow, beheading, the Bible, commie, Nascar (why there always gotta be a Nascar reference whenever the National Anthem comes up??), Buddha, Ouiji board, Joni Mitchell, sex, military industrial complex (somebody paid attention during "JFK"), and of course... the Family Guy dirt bike clip.

So.... back on topic - I think it's an excellent question, and great to learn a little historical background of the tradition.

My opinion - it's a nice tradition, not hurting anyone or anything, nice tune, sure it's a little Bruckheimer flag wavy, but as long as it's not followed up with that "Proud to be an American" pos, we're all good.

I did have a problem with playing the Canadian anthem in Michigan at the race up there. Why in the hell was the Canadian anthem played in the United States before our sports event? I don't expect Canadians to play our national anthem at their sporting events.
we do every NHL hockey game we display both the American Flag and the Canadian Flag and sing both countries national anthems before we drop the puck and it's game on
