So called native americans? Huh....

Anyway, it is a racial issue. Italians, Germans, Polish, etc... they all kept their native cultures. Damn near every major city has a Little Italy, Chinatown, etc...

The adults immigrate and the next generation assimilates.

That's the problem with family reuinifications also. They aren't required to do so.
Land of the free buddy.....

Hispanics who know english use it when speaking to non hispanics. Why should they be required to use english when speaking to each other?

That's right. Dispute the fact that the so-called native American's ancestors didn't migrate here just like the Europeans did then. They didn't just sprout up out of the ground like corn you know.

Nothing wrong with retaining one's native culture at home. Nothing wrong with ethnic "business" neighborhoods as you mentioned. That's a whole lot different than turning entire U.S. residential neighborhoods or cities resembling a foreign country.

Assimilation means choosing English as one's primary one of usage not just learning it.

It's about rudeness and non-assimilation, not freedom. Never said it should be a requirement.

What part of Fort Worth did your family live in? Can you please tell what happened?

Also, consider the costs of NOT mainstreaming and helping them integrate vs. the benefits of making an investment in our young people to make them productive citizens of our society.
Uh; 100 years ago the US did NOT have the "ESL" stuff. The Italians, Japanese and so on learned English or else. It's time to go BACK to that system tho some people couldn't make it and they went back home especially some of the Italians. Too; that'd chase many of the Hispanics who don't have what it takes here OUT of the US, like most illegal aliens which would be a GOOD thing.

Quebec almost left Canada over the language thing. Too; Quebec people want Canada to cater to them in French but, Quebec would like to ban English being used there. Tho Quebec needs to watch it because its below replacement level birthrate WILL hurt them in the end.

It's def a GOOD idea to use English when possible because there WILL be prejudice otherwise. I'd feel EXACTLY the same way if a bunch of Irish people LIVING in the US were jabbering away in Gaelic AND I'm of Irish family. People visiting here are a different animal and, I def DON'T expect them to know good English tho MOST tourists and business people do speak at least some.

Canada has laws in place and English/French are both the national languages and treated as equal.
And the law permeates through Canada and in the schools.

We do not have that at all. What we have is mass translation.
K-5 bilingual education doesn't even begin to compare to Canada's education system with regard to their two official languages.

You are only looking at the surface here.

You think that will magically happen here in the US ?

Towards the outskirts of Ft Worth, near White Settlement. My mother recalled some kids making racial jokes about Blacks in front of her, and someone made some racial comments towards her. Someone also threw a brick threw our window.
