To those who hate diversity and multiculturalism, think about this: (holidays, rating)

Again, it's not about rights but rudeness and non-assimilation out in society. They often speak it loudly so you have no choice but to hear it under many circumstances. I don't give a rat's behind what the conversation is about either.
Why would someone speaking a foreign language nearby bother you? I'm mystified. Haven't you ever been to Europe?

Because most Hispanics know how to speak English but refuse to and one feels like they are living in Mexico hearing it constantly and very loudly wherever you go.
Except for Switzerland and a couple of other countries: NO strong country has 2 "dominant" languages. Too, Spanish ain't important outside of LatAm and Spain. English IS important round the world.
If anything: legal aliens need to be FORCED to learn English, illegal aliens just need to go home, we don't want their kind.
Good post. I'm a recent American and do not believe in full assimilation at all, only partial. Clearly, as you noted, those here before were willing to assimilate and were blocked. Never has that sentiment left the majority in this nation. Those who try to fully assimilate will lose their identity only to have an arbitrary identity and false, inaccurate history placed on them or have their identity/history complete ignored. They will come up short because the assimilation drivel is just that...drivel.
I don't hate diversity or multiculturalism at all, I'm just against forcing it on people when it doesn't naturally happen because all that does is create tension and division between groups of people.
Absolutely true, it causes culture clash. Back during the immigration of the early 1900's when people first came here they were very clannish and tended to stick with their own nationalities because it was more comfortable for them. As time went on they learned a common language and began to blend naturally. It was their choice not forced on anyone and worked out pretty well.
Monoculture across races is impossible. That is well-clear.
I disagree. Then why do we have so many different races of citizens in our country that have assimilated to American culture? True, there are some who have not but they are among the minority in this country.
