DOJ to white male bullying victims: Tough luck - Washington Times
DOJ will only investigate bullying cases if the victim is considered protected under the 1964 Civil Rights legislation. In essence, only discrimination against a victim’s race, sex, national origin, disability, or religion will be considered by DOJ. The overweight straight white male who is verbally and/or physically harassed because of his size can consider himself invisible to the Justice Department.
If a minority is "bullied" by a white , DOJ will take the case , bullied by another minority , no.
Is this what the feds should be doing ? Why don't we pay mothers to home school , come to school for tests , go home , that will save many dollars. What crazy / wrong crap will they think of next to spend borrowed money on ?

Interesting that you chose to focus on the race aspect. The article you linked certainly doesn't proclaim that the DOJ policy is racist.
Let me point out the key part of the hypothetical case presented in the article: "who is verbally and/or physically harassed because of his size".
They could have as easily claimed that the over sized victim was black and/or gay and the same policy would apply.
Is there a federal law protecting "overweight" people? Is there a federal law authorizing the DOJ to intervene in all bullying cases?
I don't believe there are, which is why the DOJ would not intervene.
Why don't you lobby you local representative to have generic bullying made a federal crime?
From what im' reading, the thread title is accurate. The DOJ representative states outright they can only bring suits where they have authority....and authority is only granted through the laws that are on the books..namely the Civil Rights Act and others dealing with schools. It does indeed appear that white, heterosexual males are not covered unless someone bully's them for being one of those attributes. How often does someone get bullied for being white and heterosexual is the big question.
I disagree that the thread title is accurate, That policy should not be considered "racist" unless you consider the very 1964 Civil Rights Act to be racist.
