I think that the point of the post you are responding to is not ideological. It's not that men are anti-abortion. It's that the Nebraska legislature has a preponderance of men, and men don't have the experiences and background that women have, and so don't think about abortion in the same way that women do. Women can be pro-choice, or they can be anti-abortion, just as men can fall on either side of the issue. But most women will apply their own personal experiences when weighing the issue. Some will have had medical issues related to their reproductive organs, some will have had unwanted pregnancies. These are experiences men cannot have, they can't bring the same sort of empathy to the issue of abortion that women can. And that can result in laws that are not well thought-out. The woman who was denied an abortion is an example of an aspect of the issue that most men would not have ever considered, but it's possible that women legislators would think of such examples, because they are not as uncommon as some believe. Complications during pregnancy are quite common, actually.

And this is exactly why it is wrong for a room of men to legislate what a woman does with her body. Because of Nebraska state law, this baby was born deformed and suffered for 15 minutes before dying mercifully.
Men can't make decisions unless they are able to be pregnant? It's just between a woman and her doc? Is that only women doctors?

By your flawed logic slavery would only be an issue between a rich white guy and his slave. Or rape is only between a man and his victim. Thankfully I don't think we should think like that.

The Nebraskan Taliban has ignorantly moved into the medical arena forcing their fundamentalist ideologies on patients!

The religious right (aka American Taliban) will defend the "innocent" until it costs them $$$ to do so. Then they disappear or claim Jesus never meant for them to "have to help" someone...........blah....blah.....blah........... .

You're silly personal attacks aside, it's very sad that it is true for a lot of Evangelicals today. I absolutely agree with you. I think that's sad.

But not all Evangelicals feel that way. And it's not us that are committing genocide against 300,000 + babies a year....so who is really the "American Taliban"?

No, they just let them die later on because these "Christians" do not want to pay $$$ in taxes or otherwise to provide medical care for them.

For the most part, this Act was the result of mostly men forcing the bill through despite the opposition of women. As I posted before:

Quote:
Here's the final version of the bill for voting:

http://nebraskalegislature.gov/Floor...nal/LB1103.pdf

Here's the list of state Senators (Nebraska has a unicameral legislature)

Nebraska Legislature - Senator Listing

23 senators introduced this bill. Of them, 18 were men.

The final bill passed 44-5. Of the five who voted against, four were women.

I would conclude that this bill was mostly men deciding what medical procedures would be unavailable to women.
This is consistent with the anti-abortion movement nationwide as being mostly men trying to control what women can and cannot do with their bodies. Here's President Bush signing the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act.

How many women do you see up there?

Well the same people who were intent on pushing this bill through, who were so adamant that they needed to protect innocent lives are very absent and very quiet about this particular innocent. Why is that?

Of course we should help people that need help. When did I suggest otherwise? You really should stop these silly strawman arguments.

which innocent? The baby? We know for a fact that aborting that baby causes death. It was a guarantee. Not aborting the baby at least gives hope that the condition of the mother would improve and the baby would live.
