The top federal tax bracket in the US is 35%.

Sorry.........until we get population under control the global planet needs some serious redistribution of wealth. And it can start with the billionaires of the world. Take, at gunpoint if necessary half of all their wealth!

Did he compensate them fairly? Not at all.
Thousands of Microsoft employees became millionaires via stock options. It was not Gate's job to compensate anybody "fairly;" he did enough when he paid mutually agreeable wages. If you show up for work, you agree that is the highest and best use of your time. If it ain't good enough, figure out how to become more valuable to the rest of society.

Microsoft had about zero percent of the office application software market in 1985, and by 2000 Microsoft cut the price by 95% and made the software more than 1,000 times better.

Bill Gates is one of the wealthiest people on the planet because he has provided more value to the rest of society than anybody else.

The productivity revolution he helped produce is responsible for lifting hundreds of millions out of poverty around the globe. Mother Theresa does not hold a candle to the good work of Microsoft.

Capitalism requires us to be useful to others in order to prosper.

Who better represents the Middle Class in this country?

Why?

libertarians. we believe in free markets. democrats and republicans like subsidies and regulations which hamper access for the little guy to markets. talking endlessly about jobs and welfare is like them saying: here are some crumbs off my plate, boy!

Oh, yeah. And the Netscape story negates nothing of what I said. In fact, the anti-capitalist anti-business types ought to love that Microsoft GAVE AWAY software that evil, horrible Netscape wanted to charge money for--and make a PROFIT on.

Microsoft gave away nothing for free!

They created a Monopoly and violated the anti trust laws.

They destroyed a legitimate company by using their monopoly, and they did so with the intention of profiting from their illegal actions.

This is already well settled case law and history.

Is this an example of the modern Republicans idea of being pro business these days?

I guess my bias is showing. I know I paid $2,000 in 1985 for a word processor, the leading spreadsheet, and a relational database--all from different companies. The word processor contained innumerable arbitrary key-stroke combinations to get anything done, the spreadsheet required me to learn a macro programming language that took weeks to master, and the database was unusable without a two-day school. NONE of it came from Microsoft; Microsoft did not have credible products in any of those categories in 1985.

Fifteen years later, I bought the same categories of programs from Microsoft for $99. They were more than a thousand times better, required no school, and the programs all talked to each other.

So yeah, a 95% price cut and incomprehensibly massive product improvements made me partisan.

Is Microsoft perfect? No. But they lost far more money from illegal practices of consumers (pirating) than they ever cost consumers with illegal corporate practices.

Oh look we get to choose between the George Bushes and Warren Buffets of the world or we have the Barack Obamas and the George Soros of the world.. They are all vile pukes that need to be removed from office. Warren Buffet's wealth along with George Soros should be confiscated under tyranny and the hijacking of democracy. These two are disgusting. Buffet has lived on government and WallStreet insiders his entire adult life.

The revolving door that is American politics has to stop. Obama is going to name Google's Eric Schmidt commerce secretary!!! WTF? Another corporate lackey.

You have your opinion and I have mine.

Working Americans ( I have to say working because it seems liberals always count the lazy non working also ) get their paychecks from businesses.

Are you anti business then?

Reps want you to keep more of your EARNED money and let YOU decide how to spend it while dems want to tax you to death and want to tell you how to spend it.

Rep want people to EARN their money and dems want to steal from successful people and reward the lazy non working Americans so yes, the answer is Rep's.

Nice personal attack by the way. Not brainwashed. I owned my own business for many years and learned early on that people who want to work and earn their money will. Those who are not worth 3.00 per hour feel they should show up and be handed 15.00 per hour and they call it a livable wage and believe they are owed a livable wage.

Now I see you have a post about it is ok to abuse the upper class?

Why? Why steal from smart successful people and hand it to loser stupid people?

What country are you living in?

The rich successful people pay more then 80% of the taxes collected in America? Why? That is not right for them to pay when we have freeloaders sucking up and using our resources and infrastructure and not paying to use it.

Jealous much?
