the reporter says she was wading in waist-deep water, that the protesters were trying to disrupt the hunt. the police say the shooting was an accident, and the police also say that none of the protesters actually witnessed the shot. the Shooters Association says the woman was breaking the law, which bars protesters from the wetlands prior to 10am.

i'm overwhelmed by the stupidity of these protesters. i realize they think they are doing a good thing, but to me this is like protesting horse racing by standing in the middle of the race track.

If anyone is interested in protesting our involvement in Libya, I will be organizing a group to go and stand amongst Gaddafi's troops and chant anti-war slogans at the incoming missiles.

I'm not saying the boy shot her intentionally, but when you are hunting and someone is downrange, how do you not safety your weapon?

You shouldn't even have your finger on the trigger unless you are targeting. Annoying and disruptive as that protester was, she was not a legitimate target.

People just don't know a thing about hunting safety anymore.

When the ignorant and the ignorant come together, some poor sap ends up shot in the face.

Shot rain.

Have it happen all the time to us out dove hunting.
We always wear our safety glasses, because of it.

Didn't matter, the cow charged him. It was self defense.

Protesting during a hunt is probably not the smartest thing to do, even moreso if you realise that most hunters are not the sharpest tools in the shed to begin with, so I wouldn't put myself in harms way by confronting these people carrying dangerous weapons. Perhaps next time she'll think twice and protest somewhere else.

So you think an irresponsible gun owner should have more fire power so her head would be taken off? Good image for the NRA, typical. Does anyone want to address that this 14 yo is apparently too immature to handle a firearm and as such should have his rights to own terminated. We don't allow felons to own firearms. I would think aggravated assault would qualify.

"Typical?" Really? If you say so.

"Aggravated assault?" The police say it was an accident.

"But police described the shooting as an accident after taking the teenage hunter and his uncle to nearby Donald police station for questioning and seizing the firearm involved."
