When I read this I think teenagers. I doubt mature adults would bother to take the time to do this. Makes no sense.
Either that or idiots like the chick that carved something into her face and claimed that she was attacked during the 2008 election. I'm not saying these people are responsible for the cross burning but it could very well be someone who just wants to start some racial BS in the community.
I did find this part of the article interesting/confusing...
Quote:
The teen's mother told KSBY-TV that the family was the victim of racism because she is white, her husband is black and the couple's daughter is of mixed race. The daughter has been described as black in some news reports.
So the mother is white, the father is black... is it wrong for the news reports to describe the daughter as black or white? We have a mixed race President who according to many is "the first black president" when in reality he's as white as he is black.

I was thinking the same thing. I hope this crime was committed by kids, without fully developed brains. My heart goes out to the family, there is nothing worse than feeling unsafe in your own home.
Residents of an affluent central Californian town are outraged by thieves who stole an 11-foot cross from a church and set it afire near the home of a mixed-race family.
The wooden cross was apparently stolen between early February and early March from Saint John's Lutheran Church in Arroyo Grande.
Is it illegally for anyone to "pop a cap" in anyone attempting to burn a cross on their lawn? I always wondered about that
That's what I was just thinking.
Some offenses call for that. Burn a cross on someone's lawn, and they should have the right to put an end to you while you're still on their property. I know I can take out 3 before the 3rd one moves more than 5 feet.
