The cop should have turned tail and run away, being the coward he is.

It's easy to pass judgment after all the facts are in. It's not nearly as easy to make a split second decision that won't be Monday morning quarterbacked to pieces when faced with potentially deadly force.

Nothing in this incident points to anything even remotely resembling murder by the officer involved.

yes 25' is close, but not the distance of 7 yards or 21' which is the distance that the knife is more effective than a pistol is when not prepared.

so the cop was in the wrong and should be prosecuted for it. as a private citizen I would probably be going to jail, whereas the cop just gets off scotfree.

You also have no clue. Shoot him in the leg? Really? Listen, turn off CSI or whatever BS movies you've been watching on the television. It can only help.

So you're essentially saying the officer while under the stress of a potentially lethal encounter should have been able to visually determine that the individual with the weapon was four feet further away than the distance at which a knife can be more effective than a gun. That is not even remotely realistic.

As a private citizen you'd have had no reason to be involved in the incident to begin with. You would have had the options to either not become involved or to disengage.

Actually LAPD revised the standard for the Teuller Drill from 21' to 25' several years ago.
