Lol. How sad that Americans think so little of their own fellow citizens.
No, whats said is how many Americans are slothful, stupid, lazy, and prefer to live off the hard work of others instead of doing for themselves.
Another thing that is sad is how the Left tries desperately to keep all these dregs of humanity on their Welfare Plantation. Neither of them have any shame.
Norway is prosperous because of oil. Nothing else.
They dont spent much on defense because the US will bail them out. Demographics also play a factor.
I work in oil and know a few Norwegians and Scandinavians. The people that benefit the most are the C students. Those that aren't failing, but not willing to go the effort to be A students. If you dont come from wealth the socio economic ladders are basically impossible to climb. But if you just want to get by and have things provided, you'll be fine.
They also sold a sub base to Russia.
I have Norwegian relatives and friends, and have sold to Norwegian companies and NTNU Trondheim. My observation is that the institutional lack of innovation and leadership mentality is staggering. Nice people. Just not go-getters.
They are truly old school socialists. The impulses for creativity and risk-taking that power the Information Economy are just suppressed by so many negative cultural and social influences.
A lot of it is the aversion to being excellent. They're so egalitarian they can't even imagine themselves to be better at something than someone else.
Well, if you can't dream it.....you can't do it.
Some other countries are much the same way. In Australia, its called Tall Poppy Syndrome.

Meanwhile, Europeans go on holiday for at least 4 weeks a year.
I've known several 20-somethings who've had heart attacks from working such stressful hours. Countless divorcees because they prioritized work over their families. 80 hour work weeks are not uncommon in my field.
Even in high school, there were several suicides due to the academic pressures.
The average American can be described in many ways, but lazy is not one of them.

I get 10 weeks.
The Euro system is a good lifestyle as long as someone follows and agrees to pay for your lifestyle....in the case of Norway, they are good to go thanks to oil wealth for a small demotivated population.
I get 5 weeks vacation, 2.5 weeks of sick time per year

You guys have to understand that that isn't typical, right? Most Americans get 2 if they're lucky.
You should have scrolled past the big flashing numbers on your first link, had you done so you would have seen this: "NOTE The Norwegian central government is in a net asset position, i.e. the government’s total financial assets exceed the total debt. They borrow cheap to then re-invest."
"The country has a universal healthcare system that covers all people regardless of their income, place of residence or origin, according to CNN. The Atlantic Sentinel listed other reasons why Norwegians might opt to stay in their country: it’s first in the Human Development Index, has an average annual salary of $68,434 and is number three overall in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report. For comparison, the U.S. is 10th in the Human Development Index, has an average annual salary of $52,543 and ranks 45 in the Global Gender Gap Report, according to information compiled by the Sentinel. Also, life expectancy in Norway is 2.5 years higher than here in the U.S."Norway, Trump's "****hole" comments & Americans moving there | The Sacramento Bee
And just for kicks, from the source listed above:
"Still, many wondered why people would leave the Scandinavian nation for the U.S. in the first place.
First, it’s important to note that more people are leaving this country for Norway than the other way around. Bloomberg reported that, according to Statistics Norway, 895 people moved from the U.S. to Norway, compared to just 502 who did the opposite. And according to data from the Department of Homeland Security, an average of just 100 Norwegians a year moved to the U.S. from 2007 to 2016"

I realize that government mandates vacation time in much of Europe and we negotiate it with our employer. I negotiated 10 weeks off a year for my current consultant gig. I've had jobs when I was younger that I got no time off and have had the standard starter 2 weeks at some jobs.
As for the policy, I would have argued for the Euro mandated 4 weeks except our companies continue to crush the Euro companies in most areas so I think our system is winning overall especially now with Trump.
